"Abracadumb" is the third segment of the 13th and final episode of Season 1 of Tom and Jerry Tales. It is the thirty-ninth overall in the series. It premiered on May 5th, 2007. It is directed by Tim Maltby, written by Charles Schneider and storyboard by Jennifer Coyle.
Synopsis[]
Tom and Jerry engage in a magical duel after Jerry interrupts Tom's act.
Plot[]
The episode opens with the exterior of a theater, then changes to an interior view as a voice announces the beginning of Tom's magic act. Tom then emerges from behind the curtain on the stage, takes a bow, then sets his magic hat on a table. Pulling out his wand, he starts his first trick: he flicks his wand over the hat, and starts pulling out empty glass bottles.
Meanwhile, up in the rafters, Jerry is looking down on Tom's act. Jealous of him, he decides to put on his own magic show, with some toys serving as the "audience." He begins to copy Tom's actions for his own tricks, managing to pull out three small paper cups. But after getting the third cup, he hears something, and walks over to investigate, noticing that Tom also managed to pull an entire cow out of his hat! He then milks the cow, filling up the glass bottles. After the act is over, Tom and the cow are given a round of applause and the two take a bow.
Jerry is downhearted, thinking his acts will never be as good as Tom's. Tom, meanwhile, moves on to his next act, involving three paper cups and three balls. He places one ball under each cup to start. He then taps his wand on all three cups, then lifts up the first to find nothing underneath. The second cup also has nothing underneath, but the third cup now has all three balls under it! Tom then places all three balls into his left paw, then flicks his wand over it, and the balls seemingly disappear. The balls are back under the first and second cups, but surprisingly, the third cup has nothing underneath it. He tries shaking the cup, but nothing falls out. After placing it back on the table, he manages to summon a watermelon, a piece of ham, and a rack of ribs from the three cups. Jerry then copies his trick, using pieces of cheese in place of the balls. His version of the trick plays out the same, except at the end, he summons a peanut, a moldy sandwich and a set of dentures from the cups.
Tom then puts on a new hat, and uses it to make his cape come to life. It then reaches offscreen and then brings in Toodles Galore, who is part of the next act. Using his wand, Tom puts Toodles into a trance, and then manages to lift her off the ground! He rotates her in the air, then begins letting her float all the way to the top of the theater while Jerry watches in awe.
Tom then starts his next act by placing a plate on a table before covering it. He then taps his wand on the plate, causing a piece of cheese to appear. With another flick of his wand, the cheese starts to grow, which Jerry notices. Tom then makes the cheese bigger, and bigger before lifting it off the ground. Jerry, getting hungry, gets a running start and leaps into the giant piece of cheese, eating it. Tom then brings the plate back down to the ground, only to find the cheese gone and Jerry on the plate. Jerry notices Tom, then places two pieces of cheese into Tom's nostrils before running away and hiding under a cup. Tom lifts the cups, but Jerry is not under any of them. He frantically shuffles through the cups, then stops before noticing Jerry is now on his shoulder. Jerry smooches Tom before he disappears again. Jerry taunts Tom under one of the cups, before Tom swipes at him. Jerry falls into Tom's magic hat, and Tom prepares to find him. He initially pulls Toodles Galore out of the hat, but then Jerry appears, causing Toodles to scream in fear.
Tom manages to lift Jerry off the ground with a blast from his wand. Jerry retaliates by blasting three bags, causing them to fall right on Tom's head. A large stump emerges from Tom's head, and Jerry summons a hammer to pound the stump back into his head, causing Tom to scream in pain. Tom then decides to use his wand to make himself levitate. The two then begin summoning various weapons and objects to attack each other, causing them to fall back to the ground. They then try using their wands to attack each other again, only to cause a large explosion. Jerry tries to use his wand again, but it doesn't do anything. Tom chases Jerry, but ends up in a box made of four sections, while Jerry escapes through a hole in the back. Jerry then places three dividers inside the box, and spins it. Toodles Galore comes over and stops the box. Jerry then fires a magic blast from his wand, hitting the box. Toodles opens it, only to find Tom's body parts are in the wrong places. She closes the box and spins it again. Jerry proceeds to make the same thing happen two more times, before Tom finally escapes the box in one piece. He sees Jerry taking a bow, making him furious. He grabs Jerry with the intent of harming him, but before anything happens, the audience throw roses on stage while they receive a standing ovation from the crowd (which is, strangely, only composed of floating hands). Noticing this, Tom bows to the crowd with Jerry and Toodles. The episode ends with another exterior shot of the theater, the signage outside updated to feature both Tom and Jerry.
