The Alley Cats (also known as The Alley Cat Trio or The Alley Cat Gang) are a group of cats who are supporting characters in Tom and Jerry. The Alley Cats are a friend group of cats usually lead by Butch. They are friends with Tom and often come together for social occasions (e.g. parties or watching films together) or to effectively catch mice. There are usually four cats shown at a time.
The alley cat group are first shown together in Baby Puss, with Butch, Meathead, and Topsy after Jerry lures them in to make fun of Tom dressed as a baby. In later shorts, Tom would become friends with them. Lightning was also first shown with the group in Saturday Evening Puss.
While Butch is commonly the leader of the group, there are occasions of others leading. Tom leads the group in Saturday Evening Puss, and Lightning leads the group in Scat Cats while Butch was a house cat trying to invite them to his party.

Notes[]
- In some of the cartoons, some of the four main alley cat members appear solo without each other (discounting Tom) from time to time. Examples:
- Butch made more solo appearances out of all of them, having made countless solo appearances in the Tom and Jerry cartoons, including his debut cartoon "The Alley Cat" which Tom does not appear.
- Meathead appeared solo in his debut cartoon "Sufferin' Cats!", and in The Tom and Jerry Show (2014) episode "Cruisin' for a Bruisin'".
- Lightning appeared solo appearances in "Old Rockin' Chair Tom" (his debut cartoon), "Mucho Mouse", "Catty Cornered", "Brain Food" ,"Vegged Out", "Stunt Double Trouble" and "Relativity".
- Topsy made his solo appearance in "Professor Tom".
- In Tom and Jerry: The Magic Ring, only two of the alley cats, Butch and Meathead, appear in the film, albeit merged as a single character known as Alley Cat, a mangy black alley cat resembling a hybrid of both Butch and Meathead.
- In Tom & Jerry (2021) the group are similar to the Alley Cats from Tom & Jerry: The Movie (1992); both the groups appear to be a gangster type. They are mean towards Tom in both films.
