Droopy (Butch's rival) who made a cameo appearance in the 2021 live-action/CGI movie also wears a restraint mask and straitjacket similar to Hannibal Lectre where Tom and Jerry were sent to the pound by animal control.
Butch Dog appeared in this episode wearing an orange cap likes his identical twin brother, "Irish" Spike, instead of his green cap in Double Dog Trouble. Also, he has a more stable and quite friendly personality in this episode and more of a jokester who pretty much got arrested for a prank, even though he did told Tom that he was framed for breaking a leash law, but he probably was kidding to Tom about that.
Butch Dog secretly made an escape tunnel in his cell likes he did in the 1955 Tex Avery cartoon, Cellbound where he was given a "500 years" prison sentence.
Expect in this episode, Butch Dog dug the tunnel on the wall took him ten years, but it is not really finished yet until Tom (who is his cellmate) helps him finally and quickly completed it and they both escaped together, but go in their separate ways after they escaped from the animal shelter. While in Cellbound, Butch dug a tunnel under the floor of his cell and took him twenty years to completed all by himself because he did not have a cellmate in his cell in this cartoon.
Dollface appeared in this episode as an image in a black-and-white-and-gray poster on the wall in Butch Dog's cell to hide the hole he was digging to escape. Tom fell in love with that poster image of Dollface, even though Dollface is officially not one of Tom's love interests, she is a love interest to Butch Cat. Tom did dated her along with Toodles (Toots) at the same time in (Not) Your Father's Mouse-Stache. This is one of the two episodes where Tom is attractive to Dollface.
Don't know if Butch Dog is also found Dollface attractive as well likes Butch Cat and Tom (in this episode) because he has a black-and-white-and-gray poster of her in his cell to hides his escape tunnel, even though, he is a dog and Dollface is a cat.
Dollface must be a photograph model in this episode.
Dollface's first actual appearance in a "The Cat and Mouse Detectives" scenario episode was in a later episode, All That Glitters in the next season where she is Butch Cat's wife wearing clothes, shoes, jewelry and lipstick.
The episode's title is a pun on "stars and stripes".
