"Battle of the Power Tools" is the thirty-second episode of Tom and Jerry Tales. It is directed by Douglas McCarthy, written by Bradley Zweig and storyboard by Brian Mitchell and Charles Visser.
Synopsis[]
Tom and Jerry, formerly homeless, become rich overnight shortly after their numbers come in, so they split their millions and each sets out to build a mansion across from each other. Both the cat and mouse compete to build the most luxurious mansion.
Plot[]
The episode begins with Tom and Jerry racing to their house with a lottery ticket to win the lottery on TV so he goes to the old house so Jerry goes through the hole in the door until Tom opens the door so he goes to the old sofa. Then Jerry turn on the TV and he goes to the sofa and they watch the lottery on TV. The numbers are 11, 18, 20, 37, and 9. So they win the lottery and they dance in joy. Suddenly they heard a knock on the door so Tom goes to the door and open the door and see the autographs people with flash camera causing the flashlight over them so he interviewed to Tom and Jerry so he told them to have cars, vacation, and build their own mansion.
As limousine come to Takes Tom to the forest so Tom looks at the picture of the mansion so he whistles to the construction vehicle so the dump truck brings the pile of wooden planks, bag of cements and bricks and the dump truck dumps the things onto him so the constructor tell him to ready to build the mansion so constructor tell him to hand over the money so Tom gives the money to constructor. So he tells everybody to roll but the construction vehicles and construction people stampede onto Tom. Soon, the construction people start building the new mansion. Just then, Tom hears someone is coming. The longest limousine comes bringing Jerry to the forest. Jerry looks at the picture of the mansion. So he ask another constructor to start so Jerry gives the money to another constructor. So Jerry take out the air horn and blew the air horn until Tom walks by causing vehicles and construction people stampede onto Tom again.
Tom comes out of the caravan, looking through the construction paper plans, and sees the construction people building both houses while Tom looks arounds and goes to the constructor carrying wooden plank while he waves his both hands and stop him but the constructor say what now, Tom points to the construction people building bigger house. The constructor thinks Tom wants a bigger house so Tom takes out the money until the constructor takes the money from him and walks away but the plank hits Tom with his tooth falling out and faints.
Wearing a hardhat, Tom looks through his binoculars and sees Jerry's builders still at work with his mansion. Tom sees his builders in the queue getting drinks. Annoyed, Tom orders the builders to get back to work but the constructor explains to him that this is their union contract coffee break and suggests he'd do it himself. So Tom takes control of the bulldozer but ends up crushing parts of it. The constructor says they are behind schedule for this re-build and Tom pays him more money again. Tom, using a tree as a disguise, sneaks behind Jerry who is looking at his plans which show a swimming pool and shows his constructor who tells him to dig a hole, pour concrete and add water.
So Tom grabs a shovel, digs a huge hole as fast as he can and guides the cement mixer over to it but it pours concrete on him. Tom then attaches a hose pipe, turns on the water and holds it to his pool but it blasts him up high and he destroys his own gazebo, fountain, statue and mansion. Meanwhile, Jerry was relaxing in his pool with a drink now that his mansion is built while his constructor informs him about the addition. Tom no longer has enough money to pay his builders who refuses to rebuild his mansion. Tom hides in the wheelbarrow to avoid being runover again while his builders all quit. So Tom hurrily puts his mansion back together himself.
The next morning, Tom and Jerry's mansions are built next door to one another. Jerry waves to Tom while getting his newspaper and the cat picks his own up and waves back before going back inside. However, the mansion falls apart showing Tom old house which also breaks down revealing Tom looking around and the episode iris out on him.
Trivia[]
- The scene where Tom dances reuses animation from "Spaced Out Cat".
- Additionally, Jerry joins in with Tom. He will also dance the same way in "Jackhammered Cat".
