Billboard Jumble is the fifteenth episode of Tom and Jerry in New York.
Synopsis[]
Tom's desire to date Toodles turns out a dream interrupted by Jerry.
Plot[]
The episode begins at the Madison Square in New York, where Tom Cat is enjoying a chunk of pizza on the move. He makes a break at a bus stop and looks at his surroundings seeing a variety of billboards. His attention is focused on the cat food advertisement, where Toodles Galore is apparently staring at him. After establishing eye contact, Tom literally falls in love with Toodles from the billboard. When he rises, he starts climbing the billboards as the female is inviting him.
The first obstacle appears at the pizza advert, when Tom has to avoid pizza boxes bombarding him from above. The cat manages to outsmart the obstacles by causing the boxes to form stairs, which lead to an empty white place. It turns out that Tom entered a hamburger billboard, where a bun pins him down. Having emerged from beneath, Tom tries to climb over the hamburger ingredients falling from above, only to get covered in ketchup. Tom shrugs the substance off himself and keeps climbing. He finds a scooter on another billboard and travels through the billboards, until he hits a milk bottle and gets pinned by it, losing his scooter. An angry cow charges Tom and hits him with such power, that he flies into a billboard on the opposite side of the Madison Square.
Tom lands in a cheese advertisement with a huge Jerry promoting a selection of cheese-flavored snacks. The impact causes the dairy products to fall over, which annoys Jerry and scares Tom off. The huge mouse follows after the much smaller cat into another billboard, where their sizes reverse. Jerry grabs a tail of now-bigger Tom, he has to flee now. Tom can't move after Jerry, because the Rockettes-like legs kick him out of the billboard into a boxing advertisement, where he gets punched by animated boxing gloves. Jerry is watching this torment with a joy, until Tom recovers after blows. The mouse leaps off the boxing billboard into what looks like a water tank labelled "Aquarium". Tom follows by. After a brief moment, the protagonists have to flee from a shark, which has set against them.
Tom and Jerry flee to the power advertisement, where Jerry electrocutes Tom with a switch. Tom regains health and is after Jerry again. The mouse flees to another billboard, when he steals a broom from a witch and flies away. Toodles becomes irritated with Tom forgetting about her, so she whistles to get his attention. When the male cat turns around, Toodles points at a lipstick behind his back, as she indicates she wants Tom to handle this to her. Tom willingly agrees, grabs the lipstick, and leaps above the billboards right to Toodles, who is awaiting to kiss Tom. Suddenly, Toodles vanishes from the billboard, which goes black and Tom falls into darkness. It turns out, that Jerry switched off the electricity.
A moment passes and Tom wakes up. He was asleep on the street. Jerry passes by, munching a cheese snack just like the snack from the billboards. Tom focuses his attention on Jerry, gets immediately infuriated, and stomps on the mouse in rage. Jerry recognizes the threat, despite not understanding the reason, flees away, as he is being chased by Tom around the Madison Square.
