"Birthday Surprise" is the sixty-first episode of Tom & Jerry Kids written by Sandy Fries.
Premise[]
Tom tries to turn Jerry into a birthday gift for a girl kitten from across the street.
Synopsis[]
Tom is excited to celebrate the birthday of a kitten named Cindy Lou, who lives across the street. Dressed in a yellow plaid suit with green lines, he combs his hair with a fish skeleton and rushes to her house with a gift. While approaching her front door, he overhears Cindy Lou on the phone, expressing her hope for a mouse as a present. Disheartened that his gift—a heart-shaped picture frame featuring himself—is not what she desires, Tom heads home to capture Jerry.
After successfully catching Jerry, Tom returns to Cindy Lou’s house with a party setup, including a tablecloth, balloons, party hats, and a cake. When Cindy Lou beams at Tom for remembering her birthday, he surprises her by blowing a party horn, which unexpectedly releases Jerry. Upset at being subjected to humiliation, Jerry retaliates by smashing the cake in Tom's face and escaping.
Tom searches for Jerry, looking under party hats while Jerry cleverly hides beneath Tom's own hat. Using it as a slingshot, Jerry manages to escape through the window, leaving Tom trapped. Once free, Tom returns to Cindy Lou with more gifts, but she yawns at the boredom of expected presents. He gives her chocolates and a pearl and ruby bracelet, which she appreciates, but Cindy Lou still longs for a mouse.
Tom agrees to fetch Jerry for her and brings him back disguised in a bouquet of flowers. This time, Jerry spikes the bouquet with black pepper, causing Cindy Lou to sneeze and send Tom flying out of her house. Undeterred, Tom comes back with a music box containing Jerry. However, he finds Cindy Lou with another cat named Gaylord, who drives off in a sports car, leaving Tom heartbroken.
In a fit of frustration, Tom signals Jerry to kick him, which he does, prompting a chase. They struggle to cross the street due to traffic, but Tom cleverly whistles for the cars to stop. Afterward, they create chaos back in Tom's house, showcasing their usual antics.
