Charm School Dropouts is an episode of the third season of The Tom and Jerry Show (2014)
Synopsis[]
After an unsuccessful attempt by Tom and Butch to charm Toodles, she sends them both to Charm School.
Plot[]
Tom is on his way to Toodles with wrapped Jerry and a heart-shaped chocolate box. He makes to the destination point and hands over the gifts. Toodles at first shows gratitude, but after unboxing the chocolates, it turns out that Tuffy ate those all. Tom's attempt to cover the failure with a silly grin fails, for he gets slammed with the box. Toodles refuses to accept Jerry as a gift. She slams the door and while Tom is struggling with the box pressing his face, she opens it again. Butch approaches with flowers and a bottle of milk, also gifts for Toodles. Those gifts also fail to impress the recipient, the flowers are tiger lilies, which Toodles is allergic to and the milk causes her digestion trouble. She complains loudly about the male cats, who brought her gifts she rejected, being lowliest slobs. Butch argues with her as she proclaims that he and Tom are the highest level slobs. Tom joins his side. Enraged Toodles suggests the males to attend the charm school course that she had graduated from, then she leaves a card with the course name and drawings of the leading cats, then she slams the door for sure. Butch walks away first, declaring that he will not attend the course.
Shortly afterwards, Tom with the mice makes his way to the back alley, where Ed and Edna are supposed to be handling their charm course. He rings the bell, which focuses Butch's attention. The black cat taunts Tom about the course and provokes him to fight by pushing him over. Tom does not resist and soon, the two male cats push at one another while Jerry and Tuffy are watching the show. From a safe distance and a cover, Ed and Edna are observing the incident themselves. The feline couple sees an opportunity to use Tom and Butch as an infinite source to generate tuna cans as payment for the course. Edna is visibly delighted by this opportunity, while Ed heads to carry out the plan. Tom's and Butch's fight is interrupted by Ed accompanied by Edna. Being admonished by Ed, the characters stop fighting.
Edna and Ed give details about the course - each lesson will cost one can of fish food per trainee. Cats and mice agree, therefore Edna takes Butch and Jerry, while Tom and Tuffy are handled by Ed, who begins with explaining Tom the courtesy. The feline character mistakes courtesy with curtsy, which causes Ed a headache. At the opposite corner, Edna attempts to teach Butch and Jerry Terpsichore, which is in other words the art of dancing. The trainees perform not as their trainer expected. Edna interrupts Butch his tap dance and shows him, how to dance waltz. Butch does the job too eagerly, for he spins Edna, moves her wildly, and finally spins her again that she crashes at the wall. Meanwhile, Ed is teaching Tom and Tuffy "The Correct Feline Posture". Tom is forced to set an attention pose he is not accustomed to, which makes Tuffy laugh. The fun ends, when Tom is told to move forward. Tom collapses at Tuffy, pinning him down.
The following lesson is a joint one - Ed and Edna are teaching their trainees table manners. The class lacks manners that badly, that Ed has to discipline them with a rod. Edna explains the use of silverware by showing forks used for varied food. Butch and Tuffy get lost in the order. Butch admits he cannot handle the cutlery without a forklift. Edna ignores that remark and she demonstrates the proper use of a napkin. All the trainees do as she showed them, save for Tom who has tied the napkin around his neck. Ed admits with resignation in his voice, that it is fair enough. A moment later, Ed serves triangular sandwiches with cucumber, called "finger sandwiches". Tuffy refuses to eat them, therefore Butch grabs his one. Edna explains the contents of the "finger sandwiches", which cause Butch to vomit what he has eaten. Tom saves the day by bringing a fast-food box with fried chicken drumsticks, much to the mice and Butch's relief but to their trainers' dismay.
After the table manners, Ed and Edna are teaching how to use face moisturizer. Jerry gets the first dab on his face. Tom and Butch laugh at him, so Jerry hurls a scoop obtained from his face. Butch dodges the projectile, but Tom gets hit and falls down. When Tom emerges, he hurls the green stuff back at Jerry. Ed gets hit in the process, which makes Edna laugh. Her partner covers Edna's face with the substance from her own bowl. Soon, trainers and trainees wind up tossing face moisturizer at one another. After the green stuff fight, Tom is being used as a model of a proper feline gentleman when Edna sets a suit on him, making Tom feel most uncomfortable. Butch openly finds Tom's lack of comfort amusing, which leads to another fight. Jerry and Tuffy are soon dragged into the combat. Ed admits that the entire situation is a cat-a-strophe and Edna seconds him.
A moment later, Ed is leading the graduation ceremony. He and Edna decided, that their trainees shall complete the course after one introductory lesson and will be spared the costs on the condition they keep attending the course as a secret. The trainees agree. Toots is passing by and she hears Butch and Tuffy showing joy. When she asks, what are the guys doing in the back alley, Butch explains they did complete the charm school course. Toots is delighted they all did so for her. Butch offers to celebrate the graduation and winds the gramophone. Toots and Tom are dancing, while Butch is clapping hands to the rhythm and mice are having feast. Edna and Ed are hiding behind the dumpster. The female states that they should find another work. Ed agrees and they both hide. The graduation party goes on and the episode ends. Bye for now.
