Yvonne Jockalong

Yvonne Jockalong is a character who first appears in the 1956 Tom and Jerry cartoon Muscle Beach Tom appearing as Tom's love interest and kitten girlfriend. She also reappeared in the The Tom and Jerry Show (1975).

Yvonne Jockalong is a slender brownish clad female cat has a round head, three brown hairs, green eyes, and round ears. She is likely an Abyssinian cat. She wears a white bow and a white strapless one-piece swimsuit. She wears a white tennis dress with a yellow belt, white socks, yellow tennis shoes, and a white headband in The Tennis Menace.

Yvonne is often seen in the beach as seen in Muscle Beach Tom and Beach Bully. She has interest of watching bodybuilders lifting weights and likes sports and activities such as skiing and playing tennis. She is wears in different outfits in varies episode in the 1975 series. she mostly with the color in white. she also seen in pink or red. Like Toodles Galore, Yvonne is often considered very attractive to male cats (as well as non-cat characters).

History[]

Original Hanna-Barbera era[]

Yvonne is a female cat who debut in Tom and Jerry short, Muscle Beach Tom. Where she is Tom's love interest, in which she and Tom have a date at Muscle Beach. She would fall for another male cat, Butch who competes with Tom in a series of weightlifting to impress Yvonne. The two cats try spend their time with her. Tom manages defeats his rival after a swing from a anchor and winning her back. However Jerry pops Tom's inflatable body causing him to be flown away. The mouse then aims to lift a barbell of two tomatoes to impress Tom's girlfriend, but fails when the weight is too much for him.

The other Hanna-Babera era[]

Yvonne reappeared as a semi-recurring character who made a few apperances in The Tom and Jerry Show (1975). Her first appearance in the series is The Ski Bunny. The episode is also her first (and only) speaking role voiced by Janet Waldo. She is a love interest to Tom again.

In her second appearance, Beach Bully. She makes a minor/cameo apperance, however she retains her traits from the Muscle Beach Tom. She is spotted again at the beach like her debut and is impressed by bodybuilders lifting weights. Yvonne is seen watching Spike weightlifting.

Her third and final apperance is in The Tennis Menace, where she appeared as Jerry's tennis partner. This is also the episode to reveal her name.

Other Appearances[]

Yvonne made a cameo in The Mansion Cat in archive footage of a scene where she is dancing with Butch from Muscle Beach Tom.

She reappeared in Tom and Jerry in New York episode Surfer Supreme, where she made a small cameo. In the episode, she matches the outfit of her original appearance except her headshaped differently and eyes isn't seen.

Her name is an amalgam of Australian tennis star Evonne Goolagong.
Yvonne Jockalong bears a resemblance to Tom's girlfriend in 1956's Muscle Beach Tom. Coincidentally, she is clad in white and doesn't have any lines.
She doesn't speak much throughout her appearance, however there was one episode she had lines which was in The Ski Bunny.
Despite Tom falling in love in her in Muscle Beach Tom, and The Ski Bunny) he didn't really fall for her in The Tennis Menace.
Her full name was revealed in The Tennis Menace.
Yvonne does not appear in Blue Cat Blues. but, she was replaced by a Female Cat who resembles her.
