Synopsis[]

Tom tricks Jerry into thinking he is an alien that is going to blow up Earth. Jerry gets revenge by activating his secret weapon.

Plot[]

Tom chases Jerry to his mousehole, and Jerry escapes inside. Tom reaches inside and grabs something, which is a stack of magazines about alien invasions. He looks inside and sees it is a space-themed mousehole. So the cat dresses up as an alien to get the best of Jerry. He puts a fake flying saucer on the window and creates a costume of the alien from one of the magazines. Jerry sees the flying saucer, and Tom (in the costume) comes in and explains using a chalk board that he is going to destroy the earth by pressing his detonator. Jerry at first tries to get rid of it, but the alien always produces another one. This is repeated multiple times, with Jerry's mousehole becoming filled with the devices. Jerry gets tired and he is forced to be his slave. (Every time he refuses, the alien threatens to activate the detonator a different way, such as golf clubbing it, or using it as a tennis ball). The things that the cat did to him was:

1. Clean the dishes

2. Vacuum the floor

3. Pick out a cherry

The alien rejects every cherry and threatens to push the detonator each time. When the tree is picked barren, the alien accepts the last one, and uses it to top a pie that he slams Jerry with. However, he laughs so hard, his mask comes off revealing his true identity. Then, Jerry gets angry and goes back to his mousehole and calls his large mouse gang via a large antenna under the house's fliptop roof. Then, a huge Mouse Man (which is really the mouse group in disguise) comes to his door, then uses Tom to do chores.

  1. Clean the dishes with Tom
  2. Use Tom as a lawn mower outside the lawn
  3. Now Mouse Man forces Tom to put all the cherries back on the tree (by tying them to the branches with a string). When Tom is done putting all cherries on the tree Jerry chops down the tree and Tom gets hit with multiple pies as the episode ends.

Trivia[]

  • The episode's title itself is a pun on the 1956 sci-fi horror movie, "Invasion of the Body Snatchers", which it based on the 1954 Jack Finney novel, The Body Snatchers and made three remakes in 1978, 1993 and 2007.
  • When Tom is covered in the pie material, he resembles Hot Dog from the Archies.
  • Some of the prints that air on Boomerang include the entire credits sequence for The Tom and Jerry Comedy Show, a practice rarely done for individual episodes of the series. The reason why this occurs is unknown.
    • The 1975-1982 Filmation logo makes a rare appearance as a result.
