Gal Cat (or simply Gal also known as the Female Cat) is a female cat from the Tom and Jerry theatrical short Blue Cat Blues.

Character Overview[]

Appearance[]

She is a tall, slender female cat with white fur, green eyes, a collar over her neck, and a ribbon in her tail, Her overall appearance is similar to Yvonne Jockalong, with her her eyes and head is shaped and her fur color is similar to that of Toodles Galore.

Personality[]

There is not much known about her personality, but she is portrayed as a manipulative and spoiled gold-digger. She enters relationships primarily for wealth rather than genuine love, which is why she chooses to date the affluent Butch instead of the more humble Tom.

She does not show love or compassion toward Tom; her primary focus is on being with a wealthy cat who can buy her expensive gifts, which is why she marries Butch.

Her manipulative nature is hinted at early in the short when she strokes Tom's face while they are dating, shaping it in a way that suggests she sees him as a fool.

She displays little to no remorse for Tom, who sacrifices everything for her, including his entire life savings and even selling himself into servitude. The only moment she shows any regard for Tom is when she offers him a light block to shield him from the extreme rays of light coming from the shiny ring Butch bought her. However, her ingratitude is evident, as she hardly reacts to Tom's sacrifices—spending all his money and selling himself into slavery—just to please her. Similarly, she shows minimal response to Butch's larger and more extravagant gifts. Ultimately, she marries Butch purely for his wealth.

History[]

Tom and Jerry original shorts[]

She is a female cat that Tom met from walking down the street, quickly falling in love with her and following her. She dates Tom until she meets Butch, who is wealthy.

She only seems to fall in love with Butch more than Tom when he gives her all the better rings and diamonds and he also had a red long car when she hopped on it and by the way, the female cat was just married to Butch Cat. She is seen as a gold-digger as Butch gives her expensive presents which made her date Butch over Tom.

Tom and Jerry Tales[]

She made an cameo appearing on a magazine Tom was reading in Tom and Jerry Tales episode, Fraidycat Scat.

Trivia[]

Reception[]

She became one of the most controversial and disliked characters in the franchise along with Nancy, Jeannie, the abusive owner in the Deitch-era cartoons, Hilda from The Tom and Jerry Comedy Show episode, Heavy Booking, and the Babysitter from the Tom & Jerry Kids Show episode, Tom, the Babysitter due to her being a gold digger that brought Tom to ruin, and eventually driving him to suicide, twice.
