“Gym Rat” is an episode of the fourth season of The Tom and Jerry Show (2014). It is the 209^th episode overall.

Synopsis

Tom can't sleep, as new body-building Jerry is disturbing him. So Tom starts lifting weights, which sets up an epic battle royale between the cat and mouse.

Plot

At the beginning of the episode, Jerry is seen watching TV. He's gotten fat and lazy, clearly. Tuffy comes over, wanting to play, but Jerry brushes him off. Tuffy, giving up, heads outside, only to run into Muscles, who wants to know where he is. Upon hearing about his cousin's lazy spell, he gets Jerry an exercise machine designed to get him in shape, politely calling him out about how he's gotten soft. Jerry starts to use the machine, but it works too well. Jerry begins even bigger, but now from muscle, and he works out day and night. Tom tells him to cut it out since it's interrupting his sleep, but Jerry beats Tom senseless. Tom considers retaliating, but realizes he's nowhere near strong enough to compete. So he begins working out as well. Jumping rope with the hose, flipping tires, bench pressing Spike's dog house with said dog still inside (which amounts to anywhere between 65 and 100 pounds), arm wrestling progressively stronger cats, and doing pull-ups on a tree. At the end of the workout compilation, Tom is now strong enough to face Jerry on even ground. He knocks on Jerry's door once more, and Jerry answers, prepared to humiliate Tom again. But Tom, now having levelled the playing field, crushes Jerry with one solid smash of his fist. The two begin to fight each other, and it's a surprisingly even match. At least until Cousin Muscles returns, this time remarking that the whole workout thing has gone too far. He puts an end to the fight by knocking both fighters unconscious, making it clear he did not enjoy this. He also takes back the home gym, but the owner of the house, Rick, has just installed his own home gym. At least this one isn't mouse-sized.

Notes

• Muff is the only one of the three triplet kittens to appears in this episode, as Fluff and Puff are absent.
• The title card is quite similar in the first season, but it is red instead of pink and the Jerry silhouette is not holding a wedge of cheese.
• Each episode Tom and Jerry possesses muscles in "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Mouse", "Beefcake Tom" (Tom only) and "Superfied", and "You Can't Handle the Tooth".
• Boomerang Africa uploaded four shots like a full episode.
• Muscle Cats from Jerry's Cousin appear with the pile of cats.
