A typically violent chase begins, Jerry climbs the stairs, and Tom loosens the carpet which is on the stairs, along with a large piano. Tom tries to run, but he only runs into a dead end, and the piano squishes Tom to death. The golden escalator of Heaven appears which takes Tom to the golden gates of the "Heavenly Express", a train that sends dead cats to heaven. A few cats are in the line. Butch had lost a fight with a bulldog, Frankie was struck with flat iron whilst singing in a backyard fence, Alosius got ran over by a steamroller and Fluff, Muff and Puff was thrown into a river and drowned, though the gatekeeper only has enough time to say their names then they trespass quickly past the gate. Tom tries to sneak past the gatekeeper but he is caught and says, "Thomas, just a minute." The gatekeeper refuses to let Tom enter because he has persecuted Jerry all his life. "Apparently, your whole life was spent persecuting an innocent little mouse." But, the Heavenly Express doesn't leave for an hour, so Tom is given a "Certificate of forgiveness" for Jerry to sign and if he can get Jerry's signature stating his forgiveness within one hour, he will be allowed through, otherwise he will be banished to hell where Spike the Bulldog, personified as the devil, awaits. The gatekeeper reminds him he only has an hour.

Spike devil

Spike as the devil.
