Jumbo is a baby elephant who appears alongside his mother in the Tom and Jerry cartoon Jerry and Jumbo. He falls out of a circus car while traveling and ends up in the house where Tom and Jerry live. There, he meets and quickly befriends Jerry.

However, due to a series of comedic mishaps, Jumbo becomes separated from his mother and ends up in the house where Tom and Jerry reside, leading to a series of humorous adventures.

Jumbo is a playful and innocent young elephant who delights in the antics of Tom and Jerry. He demonstrates strong loyalty, especially toward Jerry, stepping in to protect him from Tom's attacks. Resourceful and clever, Jumbo uses his trunk to outsmart Tom, performing tasks like vacuuming milk and peanuts. His childlike charm and endearing nature add humor to his interactions with the other characters.
Physical appearance[]
Jumbo is a little Asian elephant characterized by his small size, grey skin tone, and endearing features, including two small blue eyes, big ears, and a short tail. He has a small, flexible trunk with two large nostrils at the end. Despite being very young, he is still bigger than Tom, who barely reaches his height and has less mass. Jumbo's playful and innocent nature is highlighted through his adorable design, showcasing his large ears and delightful demeanor.

Despite his small size, Jumbo possesses an incredible power: his short trunk can vacuum up objects from a considerable distance! He demonstrates this by sucking up Tom's milk from 15 feet away. When Tom mistakenly believes that Jerry has stolen his milk, he attempts to attack Jerry with the milk plate, but Jumbo quickly saves the day by vacuuming up Jerry with his trunk. Additionally, he proves his resourcefulness by successfully sucking up peanuts from under a closet door, as the peanuts fit perfectly into his trunk's nostrils.

Jumbo makes his only appearance in the 1953 Tom and Jerry short when he is on a train with his mother. During the journey, Jumbo falls down, and although his mother sees him, she is too late to prevent him from rolling down a hill and entering Tom and Jerry's house. Once inside, Jumbo climbs into Tom's bed to sleep but quickly hides under the blanket when he sees Tom approaching. When Tom inadvertently sits on him, Jumbo escapes, causing Tom to fall back into bed.
Later, Jumbo notices the milk on Tom's plate and, using his trunk, sucks it all up from an impressive distance of 15 feet. Tom wakes up a second time to find his plate empty, mistakenly believing Jerry has stolen his milk while Jerry drinks from the fridge. Spotting Tom's anger, a drop of milk falls from Jerry's whiskers, prompting Tom to chase after him. However, Jumbo intervenes just in time, vacuuming up Jerry with his trunk.
After Tom returns to bed, Jerry decides to reward Jumbo with a bag of peanuts. Jerry puts his legs inside Jumbo's trunk nostrils to avoid falling while he retrieves the bag. Unfortunately, Jerry falls, causing the peanuts to spill all over Jumbo's head, waking Tom once more. Jumbo manages to vacuum Jerry up again, and they hide in a closet just in time, escaping Tom's notice.
As Tom discovers the peanuts on the floor, Jumbo starts to vacuum them up through the closet door. Tom knocks on the door, but Jerry and Jumbo don't open it, leaving them with no escape plan. Jerry suddenly has an idea: there are two jars of paint in the closet—one brown and one black. He rolls Jumbo’s trunk in a ball and they paint him black while the rest of Jumbo turns brown, making him resemble a big mouse.
Tom continues knocking, and when Jerry opens the door, he gives Tom a whack on the foot. Jumbo follows with a hit to Tom's head, and it turns into a back-and-forth as they keep striking Tom. Frantic, Tom runs down the corridor, first seeing Jerry, then Jumbo, and finally both together. Confused, he screams upon noticing two mouse holes—one small and one large. He sets a mouse trap at the big hole and scurries away.
However, Jumbo flips the trap around and uses his powerful trunk to vacuum up Tom. As Tom desperately tries to escape, the suction proves too strong, trapping him in the mouse trap. He screams, noticing that his tail now resembles an anvil. In a fit of rage, Tom grabs a gun and begins shooting everywhere, forcing Jerry and Jumbo to flee. Eventually, Jumbo reunites with his mother, and they escape together with Jerry. After Jumbo paints his mother to match his disguise, the trio hides behind the garage. When Tom approaches, Jerry pops out, followed by Jumbo and his mother. Mistaking them for three giant mice, Tom panics and sprints away, crashing through walls and everything in his path.

Jumbo makes a reappearance in Tom and Jerry Chase, where he is playable as a star partner in the mode called Multi-Brawl. Jumbo also can be user's optional avatar.
Tom and Jerry Time[]
Jumbo is seen to have his model sheet for Tom and Jerry Time who is set to appear in the series however the series was then cancelled.
