The Lion is the secondary antagonist of Gene Deitch 1962 cartoon Sorry Safari.
History[]
The Lion was first seen roaring for the MGM logo in the place of the MGM Lion.
In his proper appearance in the short, Tom and his owner encounter him while on their safari, while the lion roars at them, about to attack. When the terrified owner is about to reach for his gun, Tom tries to get the gun for him, but Jerry tricks Tom by giving him a thermos instead. Once the owner approaches the lion with the thermos, he is promptly attacked, and the оwner clobbers on Tom's head with the thermos he gave him out of rage.
