- Not to be confused with Meathead Cat.
Meathead Dog is a character created by Tex Avery. He is a grey dimwitted dog who serves as an archnemesis and foil of Screwy Squirrel. He appeared in only in three Screwy Squirrel cartoons, "Screwball Squirrel" (1944), "Happy-Go-Nutty" (1944) and "The Screwy Truant" (1945).
In 1988, Meathead Dog makes a very brief cameo at the beginning of the Touchstone/Amblin animated/live-action hybrid crossover film Who Framed Roger Rabbit, where he is seen sniffing around the Maroon Cartoons lot while other foreign Golden Age era Toons from various studios cross his path as hard-boiled human detective Eddie Valiant investigates the same studio lot.
Both Meathead and Screwy Squirrel make appearances as residents of 'Fairyland' in Tom and Jerry's Giant Adventure retaining most of their traits. Screwy Squirrel is now voiced by Paul Reubens and Meathead is voiced by John DiMaggio. He is credited as Meathead in the credits.
