Overview

Ready Teddy is the twenty-fifth episode of Tom and Jerry in New York.

Synopsis[]

Jerry & Tom have to clean and fix Spike's teddy bear before Spike finds out.

Plot[]

Tom is chasing Jerry around the hotel's reception, not caring about Molly and new guests. While trying to harm Jerry, Tom destroys one flower pot and a lamp at the reception desk. Third swing hits the luggage bag Jerry is using as a cover. Due to recoil, Jerry hits a teddy bear resting at Spike's pillow, causing the toy to collapse. Before Tom manages to strike another blow with his bat, Spike makes and intervention. It turns out that teddy bear Jerry caused to collapse is Spike's toy. Its owner grabs the bat from Tom, threatens the animals to inflict bodily harm upon them should anything bad happens to his teddy bear, and hugs it. The animals leave the area.

Jerry finds a depot with a broom and spray cans with paint. After testing one, he elects to have fun with one of the spray cans as a mean of transport. He uses a dark yellow paint can to fly around the corridor and harass Tom. The cat grabs another spray can, with sky blue paint, to chase Jerry. The animals fly back and forth around the hotel on the spray cans, making a mess on their path. Eventually, they crash and cause the entire area to be covered with light green color. Unfortunately, Spike's teddy bear also receives a green basecoat. When Jerry and Tom are hurling the toy bear between themselves, Jerry develops an idea, how to save them from Spike's wrath.

The animals find a laundry, where they restore Spike's teddy bear to its original condition. After forty minutes, the basecoat is removed from the teddy bear. Tom puts the toy to another machine for fifteen minutes. When the process is completed, Jerry spots a loose thread on the teddy's rear. When he attempts to remove the thread, the teddy rear gets damaged and cotton protrudes from it. Tom and Jerry take the teddy bear to a tailor's workshop and attempt to fix it. Tom is doing most of the work, while Jerry is pressing the sewing machine's pedal. The process goes smoothly until Tom gets his whiskers entangled inside the sewing machine. When he attempts to separate whiskers from the toy bear, he crashes on the wall and makes the toy bear roll away. The animals have to chase the teddy.

Spike's toy lands on the luggage cart Molly is taking away. Jerry and Tom fail to reach the cart in time, for Molly managed to load the cargo into the taxi cab, which drives at full speed. After a moment of terror, it turns out the teddy bear was left on pavement. The animals' relief is interrupted by a pigeon, who grabs the teddy bear and flies away with it. Jerry and Tom follow the bird, using pedestrians as a makeshift ladder. They grab Spike's toy, but the pigeon keeps holding it. They even focus Rosie's attention, who blows whistle in rage at them.

The contest for Spike's teddy ends in the park, where Tom and Jerry have to struggle for the toy bear with flock of pigeons. One of the birds is using the teddy as a trampoline. In a moment, the toy bear's torso breaks and stuffing is blown away by the wind. Things get worse, when Spike comes by. The animals somehow make Spike not notice that his toy is badly damaged. While dispersing Spike's attention, Tom grabs two pigeons from the flock and uses them to mend the teddy. At first, Spike believes his toy bear came to life when he notices the toy moving. The deception does not last long, for the trapped pigeons use the rider's statue to release themselves and leave ripped teddy bear on the ground. Spike asks Tom and Jerry if it was them. Tom and Jerry deny their fault and Spike agrees with them, but Quacker passes by and denounces them to Spike. The animals attempt to flee, but Spike is faster and grabs them on the move. He declares they will help him get another Teddy Bear.

At the gaming store, Spike uses caught animals to win himself another teddy bear for tickets. He uses Tom in lieu of a basketball, Jerry for a tabletop soccer game, both animals for mallet smashing, then Tom for bowling. As a result, Spike receives a large belt of tickets he brings to the vendor. Spike returns home with a huge teddy bear he managed to name Teddy Junior. Look at That! Crumpled Tom and Jerry follow him and the episode ends.
