Tom, Butch, Lightning and Meathead are singing loudly at the crack of dawn. The cats drop Tom off at home feeling very tired from the night out. He climbs up onto the window ledge and takes a nap there.
Mammy Two Shoes: Thomas! Come out of there! Well, Mr. Playboy, while you were out partying all night, I have to keep that mouse out of the refrigerator! It's your job, not mine. Get up, now! Get in there! Are you asleep?! Listen here, night owl. If I catch you asleep on the job, you're going out! Understand?
The maid slams the door shut and Tom yawns again. Jerry gives Tom a loaf of bread as a pillow, prompting him to sleep on the table with the blanket and snores loudly.
Mammy Two Shoes: Thomas! Is that you sleeping?! Thomas! ''Thomas!”
Tom ends up drinking loads of coffee to keep himself alert. Even after drinking from the whole pot, Tom still falls asleep.
Mammy Two Shoes: Were you sleeping?! You'd better not be.
Tom continues to try to stay awake. First, he sticks toothpicks under his eyes to try to keep them open, but both toothpicks snap under the weight of his eyelids. He then tries sticking tape onto the top of his head to keep his eyes open, only for his head to cover his eyes. He finally paints yellow circles on his eyelids to give the illusion that he is awake.
Mammy Two Shoes: Well, Thomas, I'm glad to see you're awake. Keep up the good work!
Jerry rips the fur off Tom's body, causing him to scream in pain. He continues chasing Jerry until Tom spotted the signs saying ARE YOU SLEEPY, WANT A BED, SOLID COMFORT and STRAIGHT AHEAD, leading Tom to Mammy's bedroom, where Tom falls asleep on her bed. After switching off the lamplight, Jerry watches as an unsuspecting Mammy sees Tom on her bed.
Mammy Two Shoes: Thomas! Get off of that bed!
Lightning Cat: Well, look, it's Tom! Come on, boys! We got a big night tonight!
