"Spike Birthday" is the twenty-seventh episode of The Tom and Jerry Comedy Show written by Jack Hanrahan.
Synopsis[]
Jerry takes advantage of Tom, who is left to guard Spike's party food, and Tom barely escapes his predicament.
Plot[]
The episode begins with Jerry peering out from the green curtain and tries to escape from Tom who successfully catches him. The owner walks past and Tom chucks Jerry into the green trash can. Jerry emerges out of it looking cross. The owner is hammering a white and blue sign reading 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY SPIKE'.
Tom is about to eat some of the food but Spike grabs him before chucking him into the bin. Spike laughs before dashing off to his food but his owner drags him away from the table and says that he will have a trip to the pet shop for a birthday grooming first. The latter tasks Tom into looking after the food (he also says that they will be back in 1 hour) and the former says that is means his steak and cake. Jerry nods behind a lamp before winking and doing the OK sign.
Tom is sitting on the stool grumpily as Jerry then (from a shelf) blows a party horn and and swings across the room making him jump so high that some of the roof cracks before landing upside down on the cake. Tom panicky and tries to remould the cake but it doesn't work.
Jerry tosses the steak to the fishes and Tom panicked. He goes into the closet and wears goggles and flippers before tripping on a rollerskate so he clumsily falls in. He takes the steak and removes a yellow Piranha from it. Tom gratefully kisses the steak before seeing more Piranhas, this causes him to escape the tank before leaving with some of his fur cut off and only holding the bone.
Tom glares at Jerry who is laughing at him on a green table so the former grabs the latter who points at the clock. Remembering what the owner has said we will be back at one hour, Tom dashes off to the meat section of the fridge, but it is empty and he closes the fridge and look at the clock only got five minutes left before the owner returns. He saws a log to create a wooden disk he paints as the new "steak" and he quickly put the steak on the plate. He thinks he's finished, but Jerry shows him the clock, and that there's only five minutes left until Spike returns. He then remembers he still has to replace the cake. He frantically tries to reshape the crushed cake material, then realizes he can swipe the wheels from a wagon to give it the form of a cake and he quickly put the cake on the plate. Then he sit on the stool just in time, as Spike and the owner arrive. (Spike angrily remove the red bow and wipes the gaudy red makeup from his face).
Spike begins chomping away at the "steak", causing Tom to fall off of the stool he's sitting on. Next, he begins eating the "cake" causing Tom to fall off but Tom now laughs, but then suddenly, Spike decides to "share" it with him, and forces him eat some too but Tom tries to run away until Spike grabs Tom's tail causing it to stretch. We close out on both of them chewing away on the inedible matter and Jerry laughing from on top of the book shelf. Then the episode iris out on Tom.
