Swiss Cuckoo is the twenty-sixth episode of Tom and Jerry in New York.
Synopsis[]
Tom and Jerry disturb Armand in his vacation abroad.
Plot[]
The episode begins in the Switzerland. Armand has gone to vacation and is welcomed by a local hotel owner named Gunnar, where he booked his stay. Upon meeting inside the Home Away Home Hotel, Armand tells his host that he came to get away and rest from stress he faces while working at the Royal Gate Hotel, when Tom and Jerry cause him way too much trouble. Gunnar assures Armand, that no mice or cats will disturb him in rest.
When Armand is preparing to rest, it turns out that Tom and Jerry have somehow managed to travel with Armand. Suddenly, cat meowing different than Tom's voice irritates everyone in the bedroom. The animals have to flee and hide under the pillow. When Gunnar enters the bedroom, he explains to Armand that it is a custom wall clock with cat and mouse instead of typical cuckoo. Armand destroys the clock in rage, forcing Gunnar to run for it. Armand takes the opportunity to dress for the night and he attempts to sleep. When Jerry and Tom attempt to move around the bedroom, an alarm clock blares, which wakes Armand. Tom's attempt to disable the device fails, for the soft tune is replaced by alarm.
The animals somehow manage to solve the loud alarm clock problem by stomping it inside the bathroom without being spotted by Armand. With the alarm clock silenced for sure, Jerry and Tom elect to hide inside the bathroom, which proves to be a bad idea. Despite avoiding detection while Armand is brushing teeth, they are treated with icy cold and warm water by Armand, who isn't aware of their presence at this stage. Armand's plan to have a bath is interrupted by Gunnar, who brought Armand a music box with relaxing tune. Armand drops the plan to have bath before sleep. Tom and Jerry emerge from the bathroom and attempt to sneak past the bed. A window shutter wakes Armand, who spots the animals' shadows on the wall. When he tries to investigate, he fails to spot them hiding on the shutter and returns to sleep. Tom and Jerry manage to get outside through the window, but they fall into a snow pile and get frozen.
The daylight breaks above the Swiss mountains. Armand is about to go hiking, when he spots Tom and Jerry are frozen outside the hotel. Gunnar calms him down with claims, that local children must have carved statues of ice. Armand partially accepts such explanation and moves along, not without suspicion. A moment later, a goat approaches the frozen animals and liberates them from their condition. Being able to move again, Jerry and Tom accept the goat as a mean of transport around the mountains. At one moment, they meet with Armand, who is walking past higher mountains, and they push him away. Armand falls down the slope and lands on a stage, where a local band is performing. He gets hit with musical plates.
Later on, Armand is resting in the Home Away Home Hotel's porch. Gunnar is presenting him traditional Swiss antipasti - cheese, salmon, and cocoa beans. Tom and Jerry also smell those and attempt to snatch those for themselves once Gunnar walks away and Armand declares to have some sleep. When the animals sneak for treats, Armand gets pushed away with his chair, which results in ski jump and landing at the band again. Gunnar takes Armand to see the Swiss Alps using a cable railway. Armand elects to take some photographs, until he spots Tom and Jerry accompanied by their new goat friend, who elected to travel using balloons. The animals cause the wagon to spin twice in a row. As a result, Armand falls off the wagon and hits the open ground stage for the third time.
Battered and visibly enraged Armand enters the bedroom he's been occupying. When he is to examine his suitcases, he finds Tom, Jerry and the Goat using the suitcases as shelter. Armand loses control upon his nerves - he grabs a chair and starts swinging it at the animals. The chase is directed to the outside, a construction similar to the cuckoo clock Armand smashed earlier in the episode. Gunnar appears and makes a statement about calling the Swiss "cuckoo", then he strikes a silly facial expression, as Armand keeps chasing the animals while wielding a chair as close combat weapon and the episode ends. See you next time.

Trivia[]
- When Tom, Jerry and Billy the Goat yodel together, it can be heard that they have voice of one person.
- This episode marks:
- The first appearance of Billy the Goat in the series.
- The first (and only) episode (and Tom & Jerry production) to have Flula Borg as part of the voice cast.
- One of the few Tom & Jerry cartoons in which Tom doesn't chase Jerry, nor do either one of them fight each other.
- In this episode, Tom and Jerry decide to stow away together to Switzerland during Armand's vacation completely uninvited. In fact, they were the reason why Armand took this Swiss vacation in the first place to get away from both of them, also other cats and mice as well and the Swiss hotel manager, Gunnar said that there are no mice or even cats there.
- The only episode in the series that completely doesn't take place in New York City, like on the series' title, but instead somewhere in Switzerland.
- The concept of Armand taking a vacation (or at least some time off work) to reduce his stress levels is quite reminiscent of similar concepts used by Cyril Sneer in The Raccoons episode "Stress Test!", Skips in the Regular Show episode, "Skips' Stress," and Nom Nom in the We Bare Bears episode, "Vacation."
- Switzerland does actually have own salmon - there are farms in Lostallo, which provide the fish for the local market and for limited export.
