Plot[]

On a rainy day, Jerry and Tuffy are at the window feeling sad and bored. Tuffy opens the window and tries to dive outside, but Jerry pulls him back and they fall to the floor. Tuffy then breaks into tears and cries so much that he floods the room. When Jerry brings him his rattle and a Tom doll, Tuffy stops crying, looks at what Jerry has brought, and then starts crying again. The force of his tears pushes Jerry away, but he manages to hold onto the chair leg to stop himself. Tuffy flows across the room on an empty milk bottle and his flood of tears opens the door brings him out into the rain.

Jerry comes outside, holding a yellow umbrella and wearing a yellow raincoat. He quickly puts a pink raincoat on Tuffy, which makes Tuffy happy. The mice both jump in a puddle together when suddenly, the wind blows Jerry's umbrella away. Meanwhile, Tom has two cans, a milk bottle and a fishbowl on the railing so he can catch rain drops in them each and make music. However, Jerry's umbrella is flung into his mouth and opens, making his head shaped like an umbrella.

An angry Tom traps Jerry and Tuffy into his fishbowl. As Jerry tries to escape, Tom pushes him back inside, reaches his paw in, and grabs Tuffy, squeezing and pulling his cheeks. Jerry climbs out of the fishbowl, sticks a pencil under one end, launches it in the air like a see-saw and gets Tom stuck inside, saving Tuffy. While sharing a chuckle, the trio all smile with joy while looking up in the sky as the clouds part to reveal sunlight and a rainbow.

Notes[]

  • The episode title "Teru Teru Bozu" refers to a small, traditional Japanese charm made of white paper or cloth, resembling a ghost-like figure, that is believed to bring good weather and stop rain.
  • Tuffy appears again after being absent in three episodes.
  • There are multiple times this episode references the classic shorts:
    • Tuffy's crying creates a flood in the house and he gets flowed into the garden just like how Quacker floods the house in Happy Go Ducky.
    • Jerry's umbrella flying into Tom, shaping his head into one, also happens in Triplet Trouble, except Fluff throws the umbrella in the original short.
    • Tom watching Jerry running around a fishbowl and stopping him from escaping is from Puss n' Toots, except this time he traps both him and Tuffy together.
    • Tom trapped in a fishbowl is a reference to The Brothers Carry-Mouse-Off except Jerry never used the bellows which caused him to crash into some furniture in the house.
      • This animation was reused from a promotion video.
