Then the doorbell rings, Cates sends Tom to answer the door which he does. As Tom tries to get the newspaper, Catsby beats him and gives it to Duke. Tom, holding a bouquet, sees Catsby cutting up a huge rose bush in the dining room. Cates tells Tom that Duke and Duchess will be enteraining some friends of the family tonight and Catsby will be serving them while he is in the kitchen handing him off much to his disappoint. After hearing about this and feeling sorry for Tom, Jerry joins him on the steps and whispers his plan which he approves.
That night, the guests have arrived as Tom finished setting the food and Cates reminded him to stay in the kitchen. After Catsby and Cates leave, Jerry puts a spicy chill pepper in the grinder shaker. Catsby serves everyone salad as Tom hands him the grinder and he puts in the dinner which bursts into flames. Tom gives Catsby the bowl and he pours the soup in each bowl for the guests when all the clams sit in their faces much to his and Cates' shock. Tom and Jerry laugh at their pranks when Cates calls him. Tom puts the cup on Jerry and hurries over to Cates who was onto his ploy about him being jealous of Catsby and sends him to the basement.
Later, Catsby is playing the piano professonially much to the guests' approval. Meanwhile in the basement, Tom puts a pillow through his ear to drown the music out but Jerry gives him another idea which was using his instruments to become a one-cat band prompting him to take out his pillow. Catsby stops playing the piano when Tom showed up and playing all his instruments at the same time for the guests and blows a raspberry at his cousin when suddenly his drum gets caught on the candelabra as he keeps on playing. Duke says that Tom is the fire which he winks but Cates said he really is cauing him to yelp in fear, spinning around and drops as Catsby grabs the speedy jet water bottle and puts out the fire and getting Tom all wet too.
Duke told Tom he is dismissed permanently and leave the manor at dawn or sooner. During the night, Catsby was trying to sneak out of the manor with his breifcase when he sees Tom coming to the door too. Catsby apologies to Tom and told him he decided to go home that way his cousin can keep his job here. Cates, in his night clothes, asked what was going on then Cates gives him a letter saying he's resigned but Cates wouldn't allow that to happen and tells Tom to bring his bag back inside. Despite Catsby signalling him not to do it, Tom picks up the bag which was heavy, rubs his hand together, pulls harder but lets the bag fly and open revealing Duke's belonging. Finding Catsby as a cat thief, Cates was steamed at him, hires Tom back again and gets him to show his cousin out with the ejection boot.
Tom kickes Catsby in the air and he lands on the ground in a dazed. The next morning, Tom was serving Duke and Duchess their breakfast as they commend him for his loyal and royality after exposing Catsby. Tom takes the pepper grinder which Jerry, munching on the sugar ice, signalled him not to use that. Unfortunately, Tom shakes pepper in the Duke's breakfast which gets caught on fire and he uses the jet spray water to put it out while knocking him off his chair.
Outside the Manor, lots of screams was heard inside and Cates yells "THOMAS!!!" at the end.
