Synopsis[]

Tom is instructed by Spike to look after his son Tyke awhile he goes with a fishing trip with his master, but Jerry makes the job difficult for him.

Plot[]

As the episode starts: Tom's owner is packing fishing supplies in the van and is taking Spike with him. Spike explains to his son Tyke how he hates to go on the trip but it is part of the good master and dog relationship. Tom is sleeping in the backyard porch when Spike comes over, and wants him to puppy sit Tyke while he's out fishing this afternoon and either if he does a great job, he promises to bring back a big fat fish as a reward but if not, the dog will take Tom with him on his next trip as bait.

Above the roof, Jerry hears about Tom's assignment and plans on taking advantage of it. As Spike was giving Tyke a big hug, Jerry blows a raspberry through the chimmey pipe catching Tom's attention and the dog heard it. However, Tom who quickly covers the pipe and gives him a "Nothing" wave signal.

With that, Spike sets off on the fishing trip and closes the gate but then Tyke barks and climbs the ladder to watch the campervan drive off. Suddenly, Tyke begins to wobble off but Tom quickly grabs hold of the ladder and backs away without even noticing the trash can behind him and rolls on it. Jerry appaulds the enterainment as Tom rolls on the sprinkling hose which spins him and Tyke around until the pup flies over to Jerry on the roof and licks him. Then Tom finally stops spinning while Tyke and Jerry cheered. Tom also fanasties the fish remembering what Spike said while Jerry and Tyke watch him as he twirls the hose around, sits on the trash can lid and turns it on taking him up.

However, Jerry slides down and turns off the water as Tom was just about to grab Tyke and sending him bouncing up in the air. Tom uses the lid to safely land and reaches through the pipe to get Jerry but his fingers get tied up and fixes them up. So Tom puts the hose in the pipe and turns on the water flowing Jerry up to the roof again as the mouse blocks a purple berry in the hole. Tom pulls the house out and gets washed away by the water into the gate. Seeing Tyke still on the roof with Jerry, Tom gets out a bone with the trash can, climbs up the tree, onto the branch, holds out the bone and Tyke retrives it while Tom holds him as the branch lowers him both down to the ground.

As Tom puts Tyke down, the branch sends him into the air. Tyke digs a hole in the grass to bury his bone as Tom comes falling down. So Tyke drops his bone quickly as Tom crashes into the hole and the pups buries them both inside. Jerry gets a roof tile piece, zooms down, places it on the buried hole as a tombstone, puts a flower on top and bows down but jumps off as Tom blasts out of his grave causing the bone to fly through the sky and Tyke catches it with his mouth. Tom runs after Tyke who is at the laundry basket, puts him in the sleepwear and ties the legs part together to keep him safe while wondering what the fish Spike will be getting him and walks away.

Jerry pops out of a sock to watch Tom take a cat nap and frees Tyke by removing the clothes pegs so the pup can get his bone. Just then, Tom wakes up to see Tyke on the move again and dashes to the flowerbed, carries Tyke out, put him to Spike's doghouse and boards it up to prevent from escaping. Tyke watches Tom take his bone, digs a deeper hole to bury it as Jerry brings a saw to cut through the board to free the puppy again. Tom puts the bone inside, loads the bags of cement and sand inside the mixer, sprays them all with water, mixes it all together and pours it in the hole. However, Jerry finishes sawing through the boards and Tykes rushes over to Tom who is making the concrete smooth with his spade.

Tyke arrvies to see the hole blocked up then digs through the concrete to get his bone out as Tom watches. Then Tyke dashes off followed by Tom who chases after him. Jerry helps Tyke by pushing a barrel on the seesaw which launches Tom into the cement mixer and turning it up to fast mode. Tom flips out of the mixer with concerte over his body, falls into the swimming pool and lands head first in the deep, breaks free and swims up into the surface to breath.

Not a moment too soon when the campervan beside their house and Spike arrives home again with something in the bag to see Tyke and asked if he was a good boy while his dad was away. After Tyke barks to say he was, Spike then gives Tom the fish he bought back which was a black shark, throws it in the pool and said "Bon Appetit!". The shark lands in the pool and chases Tom around while swimming for his live as Jerry chuckles and the episode iris out on him.

Cast[]

Notes[]

  • The title name is a pun of "The Baby Sitter".
  • Thus is the first appearance of Tyke in this series.
  • The plot of this episode is similar to Slicked-up Pup except there was no human in the episode and Tyke wasn't muddy.
  • This episode and Tom and Jerry Mouse Maze have Tom chase Tyke

Errors[]

  • Sometimes, the color of Spike and Tyke's mouths (specifically when the former was speaking to Tom) had the same color as their paws, not their chest fur.
  • Tom's eyes turned white as he climbs up across the tree branch and picks Tyke out of the flowerbed.
