The Wizard (real name: Oscar Diggs) (aka The Great and Powerful Oz) is a character from The Wizard of Oz books by L. Frank Baum. He's an inventor from Kansas who came to The Land of Oz long before Dorothy Gale was born yet. He claiming to be a wizard and eventually becomes the ruler of Oz and created a machine that projects a hologram of a green giant floating head to hide his true identity. However, Dorothy's Scottish Terrier, Toto opens the curtain to the real Wizard who is not really a wizard at all, but a normal human old man. He gave Scarecrow a diploma, Tin Man a mechanical heart and The Cowardly Lion a badge that said "Courage". He decided to resigned as the ruler of Oz and made Scarecrow his successor.
