"Tin Cat of Tomorrow" is the thirty-fourth episode of Tom and Jerry Tales, originally broadcasted on the Kids WB on April 28th, 2007. It was directed by Neal Sternecky, written by Earl Kress and storyboarded by Dave Bennett.
Synopsis[]
Mrs. Two-Shoes, fed up with Tom's repeated failures at catching Jerry, orders a new robotic cat to replace him. The two rivals thus decide to team up to allow Tom back in the house.
Plot[]
The episode begins with one of Tom and Jerry's usual chases, which ends up causing a gigantic mess. Mrs. Two-Shoes soon arrives, and is horrified by what has happened. She berates Tom for his countless failures at catching Jerry and his tendency for destruction, and declares that she is through with giving him another chance. Soon, a delivery truck arrives, carrying a robotic cat known as the Verminator 7000. Mrs. Two-Shoes proceeds to throw Tom out of the house and into the garbage. Jerry laughs at Tom's misfortune, only to be attacked by the Verminator. The robotic cat manages to remove Jerry's mousehole before sealing him inside a can, which is thrown out to the garbage as well. Tom is furious at having been replaced, and Jerry is furious at being thrown out like garbage, so the duo decide to team up so they can get rid of the Verminator.
Tom and Jerry take positions by a window, and begin taunting the Verminator, provoking it to jump through the window, only to bounce off of a mattress the duo had placed, and be flung into the backyard by a tree. The Verminator is seen entangled in a volleyball net, and Tom heads to the seesaw while Jerry pushes a barbeque grill under the Verminator. The grill erupts in a pillar of fire that launches the robotic cat into the air and onto the seesaw, which Tom then jumps on to launch the Verminator again. The Verminator briefly ends up in a wagon, but is then flung into a small inflatable pool where it short-circuits. The pair then bring the wrecked robot back inside the home, and proceed to tinker with it to prepare for the final phase of the plan.
Soon, the plan comes together: Jerry walks up to Mrs. Two-Shoes, scaring her. She calls for the Verminator to deal with Jerry, unaware that Tom is controlling it. Jerry spins the Verminator's head, causing it to fall off. Tom then backs the Verminator into the wall, then into the footrest Mrs. Two-Shoes is using. The robotic cat then spins like a tornado and proceeds to start vacuuming up numerous objects in the vicinity, much to Mrs. Two-Shoes' horror. The Verminator eventually explodes in a cloud of smoke, and Tom soon appears before her, holding a "dead" Jerry. Mrs. Two-Shoes realizes she never should have doubted Tom's abilities and praises him for stopping the Verminator, while he and Jerry exchange satisfied smiles. A garbage truck soon arrives to haul the ruined Verminator off to the dump, while Jerry takes the chance to smack Tom in the foot with a bent golf club. He then gives the club to Tom and their rivalry reignites once more as the episode ends.
