To Your Health is the forty-fifth episode of Tom and Jerry in New York.
Synopsis[]
The Health Inspector is coming to the hotel and Armand tells Tom to keep to place clean or he'll be kicked out the hotel, awhile Jerry wants to cause as he makes a mess in the hotel.
Plot[]
At the Royal Gate Hotel, Jerry peeks out, ensuring the coast is clear, before making his way toward his mouse hole with a messy bacon mayo sandwich in hand. However, Tom blocks his path, prompting Jerry to dash away and hide in a pot of artificial bamboo. As he breaks the pot, a mess ensues. In a chaotic moment, both Jerry and Tom jump into the fray, leading to Tom gaining the upper hand. With Jerry weakened, Tom captures him and uses Jerry’s whiskers to block the mouse hole. Relishing his victory, Tom takes the opportunity to enjoy Jerry’s sandwich, leaving a trail of mess behind.
Armand, the hotel manager, points out to Tom that he’s created more mess than during their usual cat-and-mouse antics. He informs Tom that a Health Inspector will be visiting the hotel soon and warns him to manage the rodent situation or risk eviction. Overhearing this, Jerry plots to get Tom kicked out.
When the Health Inspector arrives, Armand introduces himself and assures the inspector that the hotel is pristine. Just then, Jerry strolls in with a trash bag, deliberately spilling litter all over the floor. The Health Inspector slips on a banana peel, crashing into Armand. Meanwhile, Tom is busy sweeping when Jerry tosses a pile of trash onto Tom’s head. Witnessing this, the inspector gives Tom a warning, marking his first strike.
As Armand glares at Tom, Tom tries to brush it off, but he can hear Jerry laughing at him from behind. Determined to catch Jerry, Tom chases him into the cafeteria where Jerry proceeds to taunt him, throwing plates that hit Tom hard. Jerry then squirts relish onto the glass shield at the bar, followed by a sprinkle of pepper, which makes Tom sneeze all over the glass. The Health Inspector sees this and gives Tom a second strike.
Meanwhile, Jerry takes it up a notch by spraying Tom with a green bottle and setting up a picnic table filled with ants, all while cha-cha-cha music plays. When Tom notices the marching ants, he screams in horror, especially as the Health Inspector arrives and starts questioning Armand. In a panic, Tom tries to cover up the scene with his bed, only for the ants to drag the entire picnic—and Tom's bed—away with them. The Health Inspector looks at Armand, who offers a nervous smile as everything spirals out of control.
As the ants invade the pots, Tom tries swatting them away with his bed, but quickly stops when he realizes he’s being watched. Armand comes up with a flimsy excuse, claiming that kids broke their ant farm. Just then, they spot Jerry riding a pig and controlling a chariot that dispenses peanuts for an elephant named Chapman. Armand can’t provide any explanation for this outrageous scene, leading the Health Inspector to declare the hotel shut down. Armand tells Tom he will be out of a job, while Jerry laughs triumphantly in the background.
In a chaotic turn, the Health Inspector slips on the leftover bacon burger and knocks himself unconscious. Realizing that the situation has gotten worse, Armand panics about the impending shutdown. Seeing an opportunity, Jerry urges Tom to clean up the hotel. Together, they spring into action, gathering trash hidden in closets, carpets, and pillows.
Just as they finish, the Health Inspector regains consciousness. Armand tells him that there was a blackout that caused the inspector to hit his head. Upon inspecting the now spotless hotel, the Health Inspector is pleased and feels compelled to dance to the cha-cha-cha music, reminiscent of what the ants were doing. Armand, initially proud of Tom, quickly changes his mind when he spots more trash piled up throughout the hotel. In a frantic chase, Armand goes after Tom and Jerry onto the streets, as the episode wraps up with a cheerful Health Inspector happily scatting in the background.
