Tom's Swan Song is the forty-seventh episode of Tom and Jerry in New York.
Synopsis[]
A protective swan befriends Jerry.
Plot[]
In a sunny park, Jerry sits on the shore, his eyes glued to the swan boats floating gracefully on the water. His stomach growls as he notices a man indulging in a plate of delicious cheese. Meanwhile, Jerry lifts an old, crumbling cracker from the ground, gives it a cautious nibble, and promptly coughs, clearly dissatisfied with his underwhelming snack.
Just then, a dapper male swan swoops down from the sky, spotting what he thinks is a beautiful female swan on a boat. Eager to impress, he fluffs his feathers and glides toward her. But as he makes his grand approach, the swan boat unexpectedly rolls over, sending him crashing into the water. The dazed swan glances back at the boat, confused, until he notices Jerry still struggling with his stale cracker and coughing.
With a gentle pat on Jerry's back, the swan tries to cheer him up. He offers the cracker, but Jerry shakes his head, clearly craving the delectable cheese instead. Determined to help, the swan hatches a brilliant plan. With Jerry firmly in his grip, he takes off into the air, soaring toward the swan boat where the man is enjoying his cheese.
In one swift move, the swan snatches the wedge of cheese right off the plate, leaving the man bewildered and cheese-less. Just as they celebrate their success, a fishing hook appears, trying to snag the stolen treat. In the chaos, Jerry falls onto a lily pad, where he finds himself face-to-face with a frog that croaks in surprise.
They tumble together through a nearby bush, which turns out to be Tom's hiding spot—his fishing rod camouflaged among the foliage. With cheese in hand, Jerry quickly stuffs a piece into his mouth, the only way to escape being caught by Tom. The swan, flying high above, spots the duo again and sees Tom charging after Jerry around the fountain.
As Tom splashes his hands in the water, searching for the swan, the clever bird flicks his nose menacingly, causing Tom to retreat in fear. Jerry, grateful for the swan's timely intervention, shouts a thank you as the swan takes off into the sky.
With the swan gone, Tom thinks it's safe to pursue Jerry. The little mouse shrieks and scurries toward a nearby trash bin. Just as Tom leans over to search for him, a female cop strolls by and notices his antics. With a guilty look, Tom quickly tosses the trash back into the bin and pretends to be innocent, but once the cop is out of sight, he blows a raspberry in celebration.
However, his victory is short-lived as the angry swan reappears, ready to defend his new friend. Acting fast, Tom hastily puts the trash lid over the swan's head, hoping to escape unscathed. He dashes toward the swan boats, thinking he can outsmart the bird.
Meanwhile, the swan lifts Jerry onto his back, and together they chase after Tom, paddling swiftly out of the water and onto the lane. Tom quickly realizes that escaping a flying swan is impossible. The swan lands directly on the swan boat with Tom and pinches him by his tail, bringing him to a stop.
A crowd of onlookers, amused by the spectacle, begins taking pictures—capturing the moment of Tom's defeat. The screen zooms in, leaving Tom, downtrodden and comically trapped, as he realizes he’s lost once again.
