The series takes place in Manhattan and after the events of the 2021 film, but the live-action characters introduced in the aforementioned movie, such as Kayla and Terence, are absent for unknown reasons.
This is also the first television series in the franchise that is based on a motion picture (not counting Tom and Jerry: Shiver Me Whiskers, which served as a pilot for Tom and Jerry Tales, since the events of the film are not referenced in that show at all).
All of the episodes take place in New York City, except for "Swiss Cuckoo", which takes place somewhere in Switzerland.
The working title for the series was Tom and Jerry in the Big City.
The series shares the same animation style from The Tom and Jerry Show (2014), mostly from the second season onwards. Plus, all episodes were directed by Darrell van Citters.
In contrast to previous Tom and Jerry shows whose episodes had varying themes and settings depending on the episodes, this show is mostly fixed to a same theme and setting of New York City, mainly due to the film being a spin-off/follow-up series to the 2021 animated/live-action hybrid film.
Unlike the previous Tom and Jerry cartoons, the series is the first to fully show the human characters' upper bodies and faces.
It also shares the same thing from the 1975 series.
This is the first series in the franchise where Tuffy and Meathead do not speak in any of their appearances so far.
This is currently the latest installment in the franchise to be majorly produced in America, as the twolater installments would be produced in Asian countries.
