Tomcat Jetpack is the eighteenth episode of Tom and Jerry Tales. It is directed by Neal Sternecky, written by Robert Ramirez and storyboard by Ken Boyer.
Synopsis[]
During a usual chase throughout the neighborhood, Tom acquires a jet-pack from a mysterious truck and starts wrecking havoc on the neighborhood. This ultimately leads to Jerry and Spike working together to bring him down.
Plot[]
The episode opens with Spike, Tom and Jerry chasing each other around the neighborhood. Jerry goes under the flowerbed, Tom jumps over the flowerbed and Spike goes through the flowerbed causing the dirt, broken flower bed and flowers falls onto the ground and turn into the grave. Tom chases Jerry around while Spike crashes into some trash can causing the mess lying about.
The postman is about to put the letters in the mailbox. Suddenly, Jerry jumps over the postman shoe. Tom goes under the postman legs and Spike bumps to the Postman causing the letters flying about. Spike, Tom and Jerry stop chasing when the Delivery truck drive by and Spike tell the truck to watch where you’re going. The delivery truck drops a package leaving Tom, Jerry and Spike to see what's in it. Spike tells Tom to open the package but he can’t open the package. Then, Tom tells Jerry to open the package but he can’t see while he open the package and pull the string. They see that it is a jet-pack then Spike puts it on Tom which fits perfectly and press a button activating the jet engine at the back and sending Tom flying so fast way up high.
Tom presses the button to stop but he begins to fall from mid air as he tries to turn on the jet-pack again and pleads for mercy. So Jerry and Spike acted fast to get a paddling pool for Tom, who tries to turn on the jet-pack again, to land in but he zooms splashing them. Seeing he's safe, Tom has more fun soaring through the air much to Spike and Jerry's impressions. They watch Tom draw a cloud picture of themselves which pleases them but Tom also added funny faces with hat, tongue out and mustache much to their annoyance because Tom really hates them. Laughing, Tom flies to a tree, picks some apples and throws some at Jerry as he runs left/right and Spike who is hiding behind a fire hydrant.
Next, Tom spots a Squirrel who is collecting acorns into his mouth and grabs him then fires them at Spike and Jerry everywhere until they hide into the mailbox. Spike asked Jerry if Tom is gone and he shrugs so they peek through the mail slot to find out. However, they see some kids at the ice cream truck and poke their heads out with yummy looks on their face when suddenly, Tom steals the two ice creams, licks and throws them at Spike and Jerry resembles of the cloud drawings earlier, laughs and zooms off again.
After shaking themselves clean, Spike tells Jerry he hates Tom more than acorns. In the backyard, Spike and Jerry try to think of a plan to get even with Tom until Jerry gets an idea by making a paper plane but Spike asked how that is supposed to help. Jerry shows a paper mouse piloting and throws the paper plane, which hits a paper-note drawing of Tom wearing the jetpack. With that, Spike calls Jerry a genius. Jerry concocts a plot in which Spike launches the aviator mouse into the sky in a model airplane and the chase is on! Tom is licking a lollipop while he is flying. Spike launches the aviator mouse and the plane flies to Tom. Tom notices the little plane and laughs at it, until the back of the plane blasts some soot on Tom’s face. Tom shakes the soot off of his face and goes after the plane. Jerry grabs a pie from a window and goes inside the house as Tom follows him.
And now, Tom appears right in front of Jerry preparing to hit him with a frying pan, but Jerry throws the pie into Tom's face, and Spike laughs. And then, Tom decides to chase after Spike and he takes a pair of shoes from a boy on the seesaw and Tom throws the shoes at Spike, which tie him up completely and hit his face, which makes him unconscious. Jerry notices that Spike is all tied up and he frees him. Much to Tom’s anger, he goes after him.
They both go right past Droopy who is barbecuing some sausages. Tom eats one of the sausages he was cooking, and then he goes right back to chasing Jerry. Then, they go right past the swing-set and this time Jerry (who did a 360 turn around the swing) is the one chasing Tom. Spike turns on the sprinklers and Tom apparently notices and gets wet but the faucet's handle breaks right off in Spike's hand. Tom goes right past a pile of leaves which covers his face, while Spike paint a bullseye circle on a brick wall. Tom wipes the leaves off of his face and crashes through the brick wall. The squirrel sets a trampoline and sends Tom right into a laundry rack on a pair of underpants, which spins around for a second. The jet pack sputters, and finally comes to a stop. The episode ends as Tom is seen with a look of sadness and fear, knowing he's about to face a reckoning from Jerry and Spike for all the havoc he put them through.

Trivia[]
- This is one of the few episodes where Jerry and Spike truly work together to take down Tom without Jerry attempting to frame Tom in front of Spike or Spike being indebted to Jerry after the mouse saves him.
- Jerry pilots a remote control plane like in The Karate Guard and The Plaid Baron Strikes Again.
- This is the second time that Tom, Jerry, & Spike find a package that fell out from the back of a truck, first being "The Truce Hurts" (with it being a Steak).
- The ending seen where Tom gets stuck on the laundry rack spinning in circles is a reference to the ending of Triplet Trouble where Fluff, Muff, and Puff end up getting stuck on a spinning clothesline as comeuppance for their actions.
